Planning (Behind the scenes)
Your doctor and planning team will review your CT scans and use them to determine how your radiation treatment will be delivered.
Do I need to be there?
Treatment planning, also known as dosimetry, happens behind the scenes – so you don’t need to be there.
The treatment plan is tailored to your body. In this very technical process, your radiation therapists will design a plan that will deliver a specific dose to your body – while minimising the dose to the parts of your body that don’t require treatment.
Who checks my treatment plan?
Once your plan has been designed, it will be checked by two radiation therapists, and a medical physicist. Then, it must be reviewed and approved by your radiation oncologist.
When all these checks have been completed, your treatment can begin.
