Your Initial Consultation
In your first consultation, you’ll learn how radiation therapy can be used to treat your gynaecological condition.
We’ll need to review your medical records, and you should bring any relevant X-ray films, CT scans, MRIs and other scans.
We may also need to conduct a physical examination.
During your appointment, you’ll discuss treatment outcomes and expectations, as well as common side effects and the usual length of your treatment.
We encourage you to ask us anything you want to know about your condition and treatment options.
You might find it less stressful to bring along a close family member or carer.
If, after your consultation, you decide to go ahead with radiation treatment, you’ll make arrangements for a CT simulation appointment. If your treatment is urgent, this may be on the same day as your first consultation.
Remember: at any time, you can ask your radiation oncologist, or any of our friendly staff, to explain anything you’re unclear about - including any words or medical terms you don’t understand.
